Roberto Clemente got a lot of awards both when he was alive and after he was dead. Roberto was the first Puerto Rican  to win the MVP award. Roberto died in an air plane crash  at the age of 38 on December 31, 1972. After his death he was awarded both the Presidential Citizens Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also in the Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame. Roberto will always be remembered as one of the greatest baseball players ever.
